NAI Names The Texas A&M University System a Top 100 U.S. University for Utility Patents

The Texas A&M University System has been named among the Top 100 U.S. Universities Granted Utility Patents, according to a 2026 report from the National Academy of Inventors (NAI). The annual report, which utilizes data from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), tracks the vital role of university research and innovation within the national landscape. For the 2025 calendar year ranking, the A&M System placed No. 30, with 67 U.S. utility patents and 271 invention disclosures granted in 2025. The A&M System continues to make a national impact on advancing innovation by securing our intellectual property through patents.
Released annually, NAI’s Top 100 list highlights academic institutions that transform inventions into real‑world technologies which drive economic growth, competitiveness, and societal benefit. As NAI President Dr. Paul R. Sanberg shares, “These universities and their inventive faculty are at the forefront of driving national innovation and competitiveness.”
The 2025 list reflects more than 6,700 patents secured collectively by leading U.S. universities, demonstrating the powerful role academic research plays in shaping the future of innovation.
