JoMar Seeds, Inc. has partnered with The Texas A&M University System to exclusively license two new wheat varieties for commercialization.

One is a hard red winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) identified as ‘7322’ and tested under the experimental number TX14V70214. This variety is recognized for its high forage and grain yield potential in Texas. ‘7322’ is a beardless, medium-maturing wheat that may be used in multiple grain, forage, and silage production systems. This variety was developed by the Texas A&M Wheat Breeding Program with Dr. Jackie Rudd, Texas A&M AgriLife Research at Amarillo, as the lead.

The other variety is ‘9332’, a soft red winter wheat tested under the experimental number TX16DDH579. This wheat was selected for its good grain yield and grain volume weight, as well as its ability to be widely adapted for growing throughout Texas and the Gulf Atlantic growing region. It was also developed by the Texas A&M Wheat Breeding Program, with Dr. Amir Ibrahim and Russell Sutton as leads.

JoMar Seeds is a private independent seed licensing company based in Indiana that works with universities and seed companies to license new wheat varieties in the U.S. and Canada for commercial seed production and sale.

Certified seed from the new varieties is now available for purchase in Nutrien’s Dyna-Gro Seed brand, made possible through Nutrien’s sublicense arrangement with JoMar Seeds.
